Don't you just love those people who think they're experts in your business? Who said you were an expert? Read a book, become an expert. Talk to companies about what they do, become such an expert you can tank their stock!Holy Smoke, Batman, I can't for the life of me figure out how an analyst can say a company who has made a healthy profit failed last quarter. How can any company continue to make huge profits quarter after quarter? Can't happen. So who said an analyst, who doesn't work in that industry, can possibly know so much about it? Beats me. But they do and they cause my stock to tank. Good thing I don't know where you are because I'd spank you! Bad, Bad, Bad Analyst!
Now as for experts in my field? Ha! Every one's an expert. They read the paper. They read a book. They buy. They sell. They make a profit and lose that profit. They think they understand the market. Ha-ha-ha-ha....LOLOL

HA! Spend 2 years, 16 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week, you still might not be an expert!
it boils down to the fact that you must educate yourself and become the expert to know if your advisors are telling you the truth or not! So why have experts?
I'm not sure what prompted this particular post but here's my two cents. I know a few analysts--the types who make recommendations about publicly held companies--and there's one common thread that runs through all of them them... they have a deep understanding of financial statements.
These people know all about the different reporting requirements for public companies and how to read between the lines and make sense of what they're reporting (and in some cases, what they're leaving out).
Unless you’re financially savvy, annual and quarterly reports and SEC filings can be heavy and frustrating to get through. Analysts in my opinion, while never always correct, add valuable information to any discussion about a company's worth or potential.
Oh I really like those people who do something once, or maybe twice, and think they just know EVERYthing there is to know about it. Makes my blood boil, it does...
