Kids in the office!

I am sititng in the office this morning and one of the women that work in another department has brought her 5 kids in the office today because she doesn't have a sitter! They are all under 7 years of age!

KIDS IN THE OFFICE!!!!

WTF! Since when is it ok to have kids in the office? Why do I have to accomodate parents that have sitter problems? Why do I have to put up with this?

It is almost 9:30 in the morning and all hell is breaking out here! Two of the kids are fighting and there is a nasty smell wafting throughout the office and another one is running around the office. Why can't people control their poorly behaving children?

It is a beautiful sunny day outside, the boss is at a conference. Wonder if anyone would notice if I go home?

So what does everyone think about people bringing kids into the office?

Children in the office is okay by me. They can serve coffee, do some collating, clean the bathrooms, empty garbage cans ... plus you can always give them a handful of rubber bands and then watch as they try to choke / shoot one another's eye out / cut off circulation in their little limbs. No wait ... I was forgetting ... tell that lady to take a sick day and stay home with her friggin' children!

Stopping into the office for a few minutes with a tribe of kids can be acceptable on occasion but when they take up space for an extended time it is disruptive. Even well behaved kids using computers and desk space create interference.

I don't mind kids in the office, that's why I keep a nice big bottle of Benadryl at all times. They behave very well when asleep!
Also, what is she doing having that many kids?! She's crazy!!

all five kids and mom spent the entire day... I went home took a nap and enjoyed a good part of the day relaxing... came back to office to work now! Boss going to handle the situation next week!

Hopefully she has figured out what causes it... Four boys and the youngest is a girl...

IF they are well behaved (or sleeping) then fine. Other than that it is RUDE and completely unprofessional.

Gawd, I get reamed out when I bring my extraordinarily well-behaved daughter into work. She sits in the corner and reads. Literally. No funky smells, nothing. Where in the heck do you work? My happy fanny would have been pulled into the conference room and told that under no uncertain terms would I be allowed to bring them in like that. Where is the dad? Why can't he stay home and watch them? OR better yet--bring them to HIS office. ;-)

Hah, kids in the office is nothing. I had a boss once bring in her dog to the office! That took the cake ...

Thanks for your support... It is amazing... the manager of our office turns a blind eye to it because she does all his work...

Nick - I'm with you about dogs in the office. I have no idea why some people think it's totally okay to bring dogs into people's offices. Animals, like poorly behaved kids, belong somewhere else - anywhere else!
